Letting Go

     As a lady there comes a time when we have to make changes in our life. Whether it’s the people we associate ourselves with or the things that we are doing in life. The hard part is knowing when it is the right time to make that decision. 
     Many times we know when we are supposed to make changes in our life but we chose to hold on. For instance, I had a friend and our relationship began in elementary school and it continued through high school. Once we made it to high school I began to see that I needed to disconnect from her because of the way she carried herself. She was always talking about other people and putting them down, always wanted to copy my work, and only was concerned about boys. 
     I knew I had out grown our friendship, but I was just hoping that we could still be friends and kept trying to hold on. In the end I ended up getting hurt because I didn’t let her go when I knew I should have. She eventually began talking about me and started telling people my business and when I would ask her about it she would deny it. During those times I trusted her and felt that she was telling me the truth but I still kept my guard up.
     Once I began to see her true colors I began to slowly stop hanging around her and she talked about me even more. Then once I completely stop associating with her she became very upset with me and every time she came into contact with me she would mug me. 
     It did hurt at first but I am so thankful that I stopped my association with her. Now I’m in college and getting ready to begin my junior year this fall. She is a college drop-out and is pregnant with her first child.
     With that being said it’s important that we let go of the things and people that are holding us back. Holding on to someone or things that you know are hindering you from being successful and moving forward in life is only hurting your future productivity. You won’t be happy until you let go of everything that is holding you back. 
     Though it may seem impossible nothing is impossible when you put your mind to it. The only thing that’s impossible is the thing that you’re not willing to face.
